Do you have any experience of Continuous Improvement Activities? |
At UEES Ltd, I spent 5 years working on Continuous Improvement activities such as “OCC Circles” (more familiarly known as Quality Circles) and “Kaizen Events” (where teams were drawn from all areas of the business and tasked with improving a specific area, process or function.) This was either as a Leader, or as a participant. Here are some of the projects that I led:
- 10% Cost saving on circular saw blades by conducting trials with different speeds and feeds and blade tooth designs
- 15% Reduction in weld repairs during the manufacture of exhausts for the Range Rover (using Taguchi methods to examine tube forming diameters, and robot weld parameters)
- Examination of electricity use around the site – By identifying waste resulted in estimated annual savings of £7,500
- Reduction of the numbers of fork lift trucks in use (Annual saving of £4,000, purely by identifying that the numbers of fork trucks on hire was not really as high as that required to perform the required movement of WIP)
